Happiness...

Sometimes, you accept things just to make other people happy, that you yourself aren't happy anymore.

They are happy, but you are not happy.

They say that if you follow your happiness, you are somehow being selfish.

But at the end of the day,

after years have passed,

and you have followed what has been dictated upon you,

you realize that you haven't been happy all these years,

just because you wanted to impress other people,

just because you followed what the society wants,

just because you wanted to appease people,

just because you didn't want conflicts,

just because you didn't want other people to judge you,

just because you didn't want other people to talk about you...

But they have their own lives.

And they will only remember and deal with your life choices for a few minutes of their life, because they, too, have issues of their own that they will be dealing with for the rest of their life...

And you...

You made other people happy at the expense of your happiness and a lifelong journey dictated by other people...

You think you are being selfish?...

Sometimes, you also have to prioritize your happiness, as long as you know that you are not stepping on other people...

Stepping on other people is different from making them unhappy just because you had different views, especially if the issue is something they will not be dealing with in the long run.

As long as there is respect in following what makes you happy, there is true happiness.

The people whom you may have wanted to impress will disappear along the way,

and you are by yourself,

with the choices you based on what other people may have expected from you...

Then you end up being unhappy.
