We were at the Westlife Wild Dreams Manila Concert last Tuesday & my fiance got Westlife to sing me a Happy Birthday song!
I’ve been a big fan of Westlife since I was 10 years old and having my fiance do this as a gift to me on my birthday just blows me away. I mean, he has given me so many surprises for my birthday, like we drove a mini river boat, ate at a very beautiful steak place, ate at my fave hotpot restaurant, and dined and swam at Sofitel Sydney, that looked over the wonderful Australian city. But this??? THIS TOPS IT OFF! I just had to blog about how amazing my fiance is!
Here was what happened last night that I will never forget, and that I will continue to cherish for the rest of our lives together:
Nope! I'm not over "LA LA LAND" yet. I can now say that my previous favourite romantic movies have been replaced. I know, I know. My previous favourites had happy endings-- somehow. But this movie has a different ending that just makes it more beautiful. I believe that THAT is true love.
Anyway, "City of Stars" from "La La Land" is meant to be a duet, and when I did a cover, I was by myself:
During the time I made this cover, I saw that Jason (Greenpinoy) also made a solo version of the song. To those who do not know, Greenpinoy was one of the first internet celebrities on Youtube and Blogger, who ended up having his own show on Project Ube back in 2008. Since then, we became friends, and it was such an honour to have been able to make a duet cover with this guy who is full of #GoodVibes.
Check out our duet of "City of Stars"! Special thanks to Ager for the instrumental!
I originally wanted to do "Audition" by Emma Stone, but I felt like "City of Stars" tells a story of both sadness and happiness, and it summarises the bittersweet story of La La Land.
Judging by the lyrics, you'd think it's a "happy love" and hopeful song, because they were falling in love while singing this. And as the song progresses, you start to feel sadness, because you start to realise that there were struggles in the background that were happening between the two characters, Mia and Seb.
I have never done a proper Christmas song for the past few years that I've been doing song covers. I get requests, but I guess I never had the time to push through (excuses, I know).
This year, I promised myself to be productive and productive it has been. Glad that my year is ending with another awesome collab with Geoff aka Gzee, whom I've worked with before in 2011 for a parody of "Nice Guys" by Kevjumba, Chester See, and Ryan Higa. The only difference between that and this is I'm not rapping in this one haha!
Anyway, it was an awesome collab! Gzee definitely had that Michael Buble voice that the song needed. He did all the mixes and this video. Thanks Geoff for inviting me to do this! It was a fun jam indeed!
Back by popular demand! Eto na naman tayo after 2 years!

1) "WALANG HANGGAN" by QUEST
"Kasi sabi mo walang hanggan / Ba't merong dulo?
Basta matalikuran mo yung dulo/
Bakit ba biglang meron tayong dulo? / Pangako mo walang hanggan/
Bakit nandiyan ka sa dulo? / Pwede bang kalimutan mong may dulo?/
Or isang beses in slow motion for 1 day. Joke. Ito 'yung kantang pakikinggan mo para ibuhos lahat ng mga tanong at emosyon, tapos move on - move on ka na with the following songs. Smile na! =)
2) "HULING SAYAW" by Kamikazee feat. Kyla
"Paalam sa'ting huling sayaw
May dulo pala ang langit
Kaya't sabay tayong bibitaw
Baka gusto mo makipagkita "one last time", tapos let go na. Ito ang kanta para sa'yo. Tinatanggap mong huli na talaga iyon at kailangan nang move on -move on.
3) "BEFORE I LET YOU GO" by Top Suzara & Aia De Leon
"Before I let you go, I want to say I love you...
I hope that you're listenin'
'Coz it's true, baby...
You'll be forever in my heart
And I know that no one else will doohh... yeah...
So before I let you go
I want to say I love you..."
Winner 'yung part na "And I know that no one else will doohh..." Haha. Last sweet words. Pak. Ganern.
4) "SOMEDAY" by Nina
"Someday you're gonna realize
One day you'll see this through my eyes
By then I won't even be there
I'll be happy somewhere even if I cared
Cause, someday, someone's gonna love me
The way I wanted you to need me
Someday, someone's gonna take your place
One day I'll forget about you
You'll see I won't even miss you
Someday, someday"
Tapos isipin mo na dapat you're planting love and forgiveness. Start wishing her well, Kuya. Forgive her, and forgive yourself. Pak. Ganern dapat.
5) "LUHA" by Aegis
"Akala ko ikaw ay akin
Totoo sa aking paningin
Ngunit nang ikaw ay yakapin
Naglalaho sa dilim
Ninais kong mapalapit sa'yo
Ninais kong malaman mo
6) "SET YOU FREE" by MYMP
"If loving you is all that means to me
When being happy is all I hope you'd be
Then loving you must mean
I really have to set you free"
7) "RAINBOW" by Southborder
"Say goodbye, say hello
To a lover or friend
Sometimes we never could understand
Why some things begin then just end
Even if there is pain now
Everything would be all right
For as long as the world still turns
There will be night and day
Can you hear me
There's a rainbow always after the rain"
May rainbow nga. MAY RAINBOW! Pero bakit may SNOW SA VIDEO!?
8) "BLUE SKY" by Hale
"Rain will keep on pouring
Some things you can't control
And while the sun seems far and hard to hold
It will unfold
Coz there's a blue sky waiting tomorrow
Waiting tomorrow shining and shimmering
A blue sky waiting tomorrow
Waiting tomorrow
Maybe it's all we need"
Katulad ng sabi ng Southborder, may RAINBOW pagkatapos ng RAIN (and SNOW). So, ang sabi ngHale, ya know, may BLUE SKY after ng lahat. O ansabe!? Ngiti na Kuya. Nagiging okay na ang lahat!
9) "WITH A SMILE" by Eraserheads
"Lift your head, baby, don't be scared
Of the things that could go wrong along the way
You'll get by with a smile
Now it's time to kiss away those tears goodbye"
Another OPM classic. Feel good music. Reminder music.
10) "LOVE MOVES IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS" by Nina
"Love moves in mysterious ways
It's always so surprising
When love appears over the horizon
I'll love you for the rest of my days"
Hayaan mo lang si God, Kuya. God and Love move in mysterious ways.
11) "MAYBE THIS TIME" by Sarah Geronimo
"Two old sweethearts who fell apart
Somewhere long ago
How are they to know
Someday they'd meet again
And have a need for more
Than reminiscin'
Maybe this time
It'll be loving they'll find
Maybe now they can be more
Than just friends
She's back in his life
And it feels so right
Maybe this time, love won't end"
12) "IKAW" by Yeng Constantino
Good vibes lang dapat!
"Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat is an inspiring, beautiful, and catchy song. I always wanted to cover this, and finally, I got to do it years after this song was released. Luckily, my college friend, Jefztryx, was willing to help me out in covering this.
It's a song about two friends, or bestfriends rather, who are in love with each other. They are happy that their friendship turned out that way.
Since "Les Miserables" is in Manila, Philippines (The Theatre at Solaire) at the moment, I decided to cover one of the most emotional songs in the musical, which has been famous, thanks to Ms. Lea Salonga. It's a challenging song, because it has a lot of emotions.
"On My Own" is a song by Eponine, who is in love with Marius, who unfortunately is already courting Cosette. Let's just say that people call this song the official "friendzoned" song.
She pretends to be in her own happy world with Marius, only to realize that she has only been pretending, and the heartache and sadness start to crush her heart. It's a beautiful song. So, I hope you guys enjoy my cover, even though this isn't as perfect as how Lea Salonga did.
Last week, I was able to watch one of the most magical and romantic musicals ever created--GHOST. To those who know me, it has been my dream to be part of a musical. Right now, I've been busy with activities related to this, so watching this musical ignited my love for it more. The show was THAT inspiring.
Before I continue my review, can I just give a shoutout to Ms. Jemma Rix?! I am so happy I got to meet her. She plays Molly in "Ghost", and is famously known for her role as Elphaba in "Wicked". By the way, if you are reading this, thank you for being so kind in giving us the time to have a photo with you (above photo--even though the headlight behind me was so bright). You have been wonderful! I hope to see you in future Sydney workshops! You brought your magic with you to the Ghost show.
What can I say about this? Well, this is a new experience for me, because it is based on a movie. I have seen the movie by Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, and I was curious as to how they will do all the effects on stage.
I mean, come on guys, it's about a GHOST. How do you do all those effects, right!? I was also curious about the songs. We all know what GHOST's main song is. Yep, "Unchained Melody". So, what will the new songs be!?
I watched the musical with my lovely Gradeschool/Highschool friend, Jo Anne. With me and her together, there were so many inside jokes and comments that were made. I had so much fun. Thanks for our awesome musical date. Haha! And thanks for putting up with me and my random comments.
I don't know if I should spoil you guys, but the plot is already obvious with how the show's been promoted through posters or trailers, and of course, you may have seen the movie. But basically, Sam (Rob Mills) dies. Sam is Molly's boyfriend. And Sam is on a mission.
Maybe I should stop there. My main review is how the show was done.
The songs are catchy and memorable. They basically have a good mix of ballads and upbeat songs.
The choreography was flawless. It was nonstop and it keeps you entertained. Whether the song was slow or fast, I didn't get bored at how they presented their songs. There were always some things happening in the background, or just everywhere! It wasn't dull and flat.
The lights and the effects??? It was like watching a magic show and a musical in one. So many effects were done through their lights, multiple layers of screens, sounds, and the actors themselves.
The cast was amazing!!! You know how sometimes the ensemble gets taken for granted (and believe me, I love looking at ensembles!) and people just focus on the lead actors? Their ensemble is a great mix of very talented people, that I started recognising them all. They all got to step into different characters, and they were able to make their talent shine brighter and more distinct. I felt that they were given the spotlight that they deserve, alongside the lead actors.
The lead actorsdefinitely gave their characters justice. There was a good chemistry between Sam and Molly, so their love story and emotions felt realistic. Carl (David Roberts), their bestfriend, looks so innocent, and you wouldn't know what's going on inside his head, until the stress comes in. Willie Lopez (Ross Chisari), you made me hate your character, so good on you mate. Oda Mae and her girls (Evette White and Lydia Warr) were funny. They were a great comic relief in the middle of the heartbroken and tragic moments. And Subway Ghost (David Denis), dude, nice rhymes! You scared me with your magic.
My heart was truly touched by how this was presented. All my emotions were coming out. I felt the love that Sam and Molly shared, the sadness that Molly was going through, the helplessness and anger Sam felt because his life was taken away unfairly and he had unfinished business that he still wanted to fix, the joy and laughter that Oda Mae (Wendy Brown) brought to the stage with her witty and funny personality, and the happiness and fulfilment that the ending provided.
Seeing this show is worth it. I enjoyed it so much, and it definitely did not disgrace the movie, "Ghost".
Again, great job to everyone involved in the GHOST's production! The whole crew deserves this wonderful success. Their director, Matthew Warchus, definitely continued his Matilda magic in this musical. Wonderful! And to Rob Mills, I heard your interview on the radio last month. Your story was inspiring that I got more curious to watch Ghost too. Lastly, to my friends, Jana, Dae, Clare, Micko, and Nards, thanks for building up the excitement! :)
New Mark Feehily fan "childhood wish" accomplishment alongside his debut album, "FIRE"!
If you grew up with me, you may have known how much I was a Westlife fan back then. Typical teenybopper during my teenage years, which somehow I have outgrown, this trait is dormant, yet still lingering and waiting for that perfect moment when it would come out again.
I used to have a wishlist/bucketlist when I was 11 years old. One of them was to meet Mark Feehily. I used to live in the Philippines, and I only got to see him through concerts. I wanted something more personal at least. See him up close or at least get noticed for once. In 2011, my first wish was granted. He tweeted my Westlife fan video!
My embarrassing parody video finally got noticed.
So recently, I went on a trip to the UK with my parents. My favourite Westlifer is MARK FEEHILY. I was aware that he has a new album, and you know, I felt there was something up. And there it was. He had album signings all over the UK!
I looked at my itinerary, and nothing really coincided with his album signing dates. I lost hope.
When I was in Edinburgh, I felt like checking his page despite hopelessness. And then I looked at the date. I was looking at my itinerary wrongly. HE WAS GONNA BE IN EDINBURGH THE SAME DAY AS ME! ANDDDD, the venue was the street across our hotel. Maybe around 10 minutes away.
I took this photo while we were on the tour bus.
Sadly, we had to go somewhere at exactly the same time he was starting his signing. I got sad. But it's okay, because I got another good surprise when I went back home.
My video (screenshot above post) was included in Mark's "Only You" Official Fan Music Video! This is such a wonderful and touching song. Thanks Mark for choosing my video. I am really touched. I'm around the 0:32 mark.
So alongside this, I also got my wish to at least take a photo with Mark Feehily at Westminster, London. It's still Mark so it counts. Thanks Rap for the photo.
For now, I guess I'm happy that I got to at least have some opportunities to have a connection with Mark this year, in addition to him tweeting my Westlife fan video in 2011!
Thanks Mark for the wonderful opportunities. You are checking off my childhood wishlist/bucketlist through simple ways like including my video in your "Only You" music video! Good luck on your new album!!! Love it!
And to anyone reading this, dreams still do come true! ;)

I haven't been singing for a year due to me being busy at work (not really an excuse, I know), but I got inspired to sing this sad but beautiful song from the movie, "Begin Again", which stars Keira Knightley, Adam Levine, and Mark Ruffalo.
The song is very deep and moving, and has a lot of interpretations. For me, it is all about love and life itself. Our purpose in this world.
I feel like there are two stories in this song, which can be the cause of so many interpretations out there. Then again, we can all interpret things differently, but here is mine.
There is this couple. They started out as perfect. They totally believed they can make it no matter what tomorrow brought them. They believed that they were meant to be. Then something changed. They started to question things and were struggling to work things out between them. They started to feel lost. They are now in tears. Will they compromise to be together again?
And then it goes on to questioning one's purpose. It must have been an extension of questions. A self-reflection. A mentioning of faith and beliefs that may turn into reality, as well as questions about youth being wasted. This may be the romance that happened in the past that was thought of as a waste. It may also be something else. But it all comes down to questions. Do we keep running away? Or should we face what we have to face, and find who we are and what was meant for us?
April 27, 2015 was the first day of Sam Smith's Sydney Tour.
I went out with my work friends (Queenie & Suzy), as well as Suzy's friends (Mariz, MJ, & Anj). At the carpark, we bumped into Sheereeza and her friends, Aimee, Nate, and Reg.
The concert was simple. No backdrops. No props. Just the stage, lights, screens, the band, the backup singers, and Sam Smith.
I am not complaining about the simplicity of this concert. I am amazed and grateful it was minimal, because we got to focus on the talent on the stage.
No unnecessary distractions. Just talent.
Sam Smith performed very well. He has a clean, strong, and powerful voice that I told my friends that I cannot believe he planned to do two nights straight in Sydney, especially at the amount of his vocal effort.
